Thanks for checking in to the Elderberry Festival's home page.  This year was a great year.  Plans are being made already for the 2012 event.

The 2011 festival was an ever better sucess then the previous festival.  Thanks so much to all who made this year's event possible.   We had lots of craft and food vendors and the music was better than anyone expected.  The weather was outstanding.  Lots of children and families.  We had farmers from all over the country and Canada.  Both satges were going so there were plenty to choose from.  Our elderberry song contest was a big hit.  I will post the winners recorded performance as time allows so check back often.   We have added a new advance ticket purchase option to save you money and will include some merchandise too for those interested.   Most of the bands performed  this year will be back next year.  Stay tuned for the confirmed list comming soon.

The 2010 festival was the first event held on the elderberry farm.    The weather was everything thrown together including wind gusts of 70 mph with highs in the upper nineties but cool at night.  We got an inch of rain in about 40 minutes and the MO river was at flood stage.   The road from Hartsburg was closed some time late Sat.  Not only did we survive, we thrived !  It was an event we can all hang our hats on.  A great sense of community has been created.  What we do from this point forward is up to us.

The dance floor has been dismantled awaiting the next event.

"The road goes on forever and the party never ends." Robert Earl Keen

We have created so much with our first festival.   The stage is built and the infrastructure has been laid.  Our future is bright.  The Conference was well attended by 100 or so farmers and folks interested in the elderberries.  Some expressed sorrow in not knowing more about the 2 days of music.  We will do a better job next year in letting everyone know.  Who knows;we might even advertise.  Attendace for the weekend in addition to the conference was about 200-250.  We created lots of smiles and many memories.  We are all excited about our next event.  Check back often for news and anouncements.  Please feel free to contribute new blog entries and comments so we can all hear your thought and suggestions.

The quality of 2010's performers was outstanding.  The volunteers were perfect and the grounds were stunning. The fire flies were dancing all around us each evening and the elderberries were swingin' in the breeze to the beat of the groove.  I could not have created it any better.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart,
Jolly Rodger
